June 1,c. Leeham Co. When flying the A I knew it had taken the cockpit philosophy from A rather than these two. On a first glance the differences between A and A cockpits are considerable. In the A simulator before the flight it turned out most changes were natural and easy to comprehend.
To understand what has changed and if it is for the better or not, lets go through the changes and explain how it works in A Figure 1. A cockpit with the six displays where the outer house the OIS.

On top of displaying airport charts and airway information it contains performance applications for all phases of flight, a weight and balance application and a full line of aircraft documentation.
This is to make sure that nothing can interference with the flight safety critical avionics side. Therefore airlines can implement own applications in the OIS environment without endangering the flight safety of the aircraft. Figure 2.

This greater flexibility together with a more logical display of information from the FMS in a tabbed interface makes programming of the aircraft for the flight easier Weights, Speeds, Flight plans, Radio aids, Fuel etcFigure 5. Figure 5. To move the cursor between displays on A one just rolls them over to the next display, simple and fast to learn.
Inputs with the KCCU is made by clicking with the right mouse button Validation pb on the info, then entering the information.
When hitting ENTer on the keyboard or a second click with the Validation mouse button the cursor moves to the next item in check-lists or input screens, it becomes natural immediately.
For working with the OIS there are two keyboards stored above the pedals. These can be dragged back to be easily reached when in cruise. The normal use of the six displays is shown in Figure 6.
Figure 6. A normal setup of displays. The engine displays have also been improved. This made the display dependent on the engines that were fitted to the aircraft one flew. Figure 7. The flight phase which has the most incidents is the landing phase, especially during the braking phase and the turning off to the taxiways.Join our community today and start interacting with existing members. No surprise that Bombardier has decided to use it on the CSeries as well. For that reason, use of a HUD would be ideal for approaches into short runways. Word is that Delta may not opt for the HUD - that's too bad! I started another thread on this but not sure if anyone read it. Great "factual" perspective on Boeing's claims against Bombardier and the CSeries.

I am just curious about the C series. So I am going to list some of the new features I know exist on the A And hopefully, you can tell me if they exist or not on the C series. Also, A gurus, feel free to correct or add.
I am not rated on the plane and only have a few magazines and a FCTM. The A is finally almost completely paperless with most procedures being performed as an e-checklist.
I know the C series has that feature already. This is used to maintain cruise CG in the optimum range without using aerodynamic trim, IE.
This also lead to weight reduction since all the fuel piping is now gone. The aircraft entered into service in February Aircraft weights and capabilities shown are the highest values. Ranges shown are for typical passenger load. Designed with airlines' priorities in mind, the A XWB meets the multiple challenges of high fuel prices, rising expectations from passengers and increasing environmental concerns.
The A offers passengers the quietest twin-aisle cabin in the skies, wider seats and elegant LED ambient lighting that not only contributes to a beautiful interior, but minimises the effects of jetlag, as well.
The A also can offer passengers the most modern in-flight experience available. The A XWB is truly innovative, with new technology throughout the entirety of the aircraft. Airbus is on-hand to offer support every step of the way. A comprehensive and tailored training portfolio is designed and developed by Airbus for pilots, cabin crews, performance and operations engineers, maintenance personnel, and structure and repair specialists.
Similar partnerships are planned across the globe over the coming years. Leveraging cross-divisional synergies, Airbus also has decided to build on the competencies of its existing flight academy to deliver its new pilot cadet training programme in Europe. The Airbus Flight Academy Europe aims to train up to pilot cadets annually. Using a modern fleet of both single and multi-engine aircraft equipped with full digital cockpit technology as well as the latest flight simulators, the training programme will provide students with the skills and mindset required to become operationally-ready pilots, focusing on the important development of key pilot technical and behavioural competences.
We propose a comprehensive training portfolio addressing pilots, cabin crew, maintenance personnel, structure and repair specialists. With our wide range of training solutions, we are able to propose scalable training services adapted to any customer, thus becoming the one-stop-shop covering their entire operational needs.
We strive to incorporate the latest technologies and training concepts in all training domains, such as competency-based training, evidence based training, or learning by doing. The trainees can learn and practice in a 3D interactive environment for more effective knowledge retention.
As the world fleet grows; so to does the need for more pilots and technicians to meet the needs of airlines and passengers. Airbus forecasts that over the next 20 years more than a million of such professionals will be needed to be trained to the highest levels.
We are progressively expanding our training network to support fleet growth worldwide and to support our customers by extending our training capabilities locally. In the last three years, we have moved from five to 18 training locations: discover our Training Network. We will continue to extend our network and move closer to our customers by proposing local, pragmatic and tailored training solutions.
